SW 38– Vulnerability, Autonomy, and the Ecological Crisis: Debates on Rights and Legal Subjects

The current ecological crisis has raised many diverse legal issues. In this workshop, we propose to focus on central philosophical aspects, particularly how to understand the relationship between autonomy and vulnerability, and to discuss their centrality and impact on legal systems. We aim to explore individuals’ dependance on their social and natural environment, as well as their contextual and relational aspects, and to examine new theories of human agency, legal subjects, and human rights.
